Good job. But, I hear people in USA and UK saying take or have with food and drinks, so why do you say " don't use take with drinks " ?
English with Max (1 year ago)
Good observation! It's normally fine to use "have". E.g. I had lunch --- I had a sandwich for lunch -- I'll have the Greek salad (when ordering food) "Take" is only used in very specific ways in relation to food and drink. E.g. I take milk and sugar with my coffee. Sometimes you might hear something like: "Do you want to take lunch now?" But the idea there is that you are taking your lunch break. And in Singapore English they apparently use "take" all the time, but that's not representative of how most native speakers speak ;).

I knew all of them except Thank God. It surprised me! :O I always heard people say Thanks God but the correct way is Thank God! So I correct my mistake. Thank you :) And by the way, when I think of it, in my native language we say the same 😂 it feels obvious to say Thank God
English with Max (1 year ago)
Yes, I think it surprises lots of people! It's great that you knew the others!

Depending on Frank's opinion of Justin Bieber, dancing on his songs rather than dancing to his songs could be entirely acceptable. ;-)
English with Max (1 year ago)
😂😂😂 Good point!

Thank's .Teacher Max, I can say" I take my kids to the Funfair on the ferris wheel". And "I take him on carnival rides". Is it correct? 2) why can't we say " I take him to swim instead of taking him swimming"?
English with Max (1 year ago)
You can say: I take my kids on ferris wheel at the funfair. And: I take him on carnival rides. 😀 If you don't specify where you're taking him, you would say: I take him swimming. But you can say: I take him to swim at the pool every Saturday. I don't know why...
fong beng (1 year ago)
Teacher Max, Can I say " I take my kids for the ferris wheel ride"? Please correct me
English with Max (1 year ago)
You can say: "I take my kids on the ferris wheel."

Once you said you are a feminist so i hope you dont get mad about this. But i do not only enjoy your lessons but your look too. Youve got an interesting style in relation to your clothes and acessoires.
English with Max (1 year ago)
It's OK, I'm not an "extreme feminist", I just think that men and women should have equal rights. And thank you :). I don't mind compliments about what I wear. I just don't really like it when people say things like "you're pretty" in response to an educational video that required some thought and creativity, particularly when that's the ONLY thing they say. In addition, your style and what you wear are products of choice, whereas how you look is just how you were born.

The sounds of duak in the first video it's so funny 😁

Tikus241 (1 year ago)
Very good lesson for Singlish and Malaysian speakers. They always say take when they mean eat, as in: She does not take prawns.
English with Max (1 year ago)
Interesting! :)
Thomas Schmitt (1 year ago)
The moment when you know there must be a mistake but it looks perfectly fine to you.
English with Max (1 year ago)
It's very strange, but in English you can actually say both "fill in a form" and "fill out a form". I don't know why! 😂 Oh, I didn't realise some Germans have now started saying that... interesting. I was just taught to say "es/das ist logisch" for "it makes sense".
Thomas Schmitt (1 year ago)
"to fill in a form". Im Deutschen sagt man ein "Formular ausfüllen", deshalb sagen viele Deutsche "to fill out a form".

Erica Oliveira (1 year ago)
Hello dear Max... Is it also correct to say...to dance Justin Bieber's song?
English with Max (1 year ago)
No... We always have to use "to" (to dance to a song). However, you can say "to dance salsa" (because it's a style of dance), and in the context of ballet, you might hear something like "they danced The Nutcracker".

I translate this lesson in French on YouTube but as it's the first time I made this, I don't know how to save this translation and YouTube don't give me a hand. I hope it will be registered when I shut YouTube. Thank God
English with Max (1 year ago)
Thank you very much! I checked and it's there :). I'll accept it shortly!
1953emo (1 year ago)
Hi, Max, as always a fine lesson from you. I can not resist and so let me tell you this: new earings in the follow-up lesson but your enjoyable dimples remain the same. Thank God. (pls correct)
English with Max (1 year ago)
Thank you very much!! I'll have a look at them shortly (not that I'll understand anything ;)). Haha, yes, I didn't put that in the subtitles because I don't know what YouTube's rules are in regard to swearing and how that affects advertisers, and it's easier to find if it's transcribed!
1953emo (1 year ago)
Thanks for your reply. I tried to make Slovak subtitles for the first time. At the very end of your video, there was no space for your final words, though. :) It was something like this: Yes, uhh, fu ..'kin' hell! It is 2:25 A.M. and finally, I am going to bed.
English with Max (1 year ago)
Thank you very much :). Only two corrections: *cannot *nice dimples 😉

You look even more beautiful to day.i like you.i went to....wrong.the sentence should be I have been to Disneyland.
Sunkara Eliya (1 year ago)
I went to Disneyland yesterday it was a lot of fun.but I have been to Disneyland land it was a lot of fun. Past simple shouldn't be used for experiences.
English with Max (1 year ago)
"I went to Disneyland" and "I have been to Disneyland" are both correct. It depends on the context.
