Only a little bit, i can get a miniscule amount with a macbook pro 2011 CPU mining. Honestly it's a miracle on its own that it works
3D Printing Lab (2 years ago)
+praemolar88 not much because it's not very powerful. You may be able to get some tho.

Are you sure the "chmod 755 minerd" command worked? Usually this is solved by given run permissions with "chmod"!

Same problem as hswafk2 !
Wendy Lincoln (4 years ago)
Thanks so very much for this, it helped me get a friend on a mac up and running. The only thing I was unable to figure out was how to make the mining commands into some kind of shortcut. Any leads on how to do that?
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
Open up a new terminal and type "ls -al". Look for a file called ".bash_profile". It may not exist, in which case you need to create it "touch .bash_profile". Then you can edit it in your text editor of course! Let me know if you need further clarification.
Akshay Seth (4 years ago)
+ShortTutorials Who do i get to the ".bash_profile" file? i don't know how to use the terminal need you to help me crate a short cut pls.
Wendy Lincoln (4 years ago)
Okay, cool. Appreciate the help, and I think I understand how to do it too!
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
Such a shortcut would need to go into your ".bash_profile" file and add a line that looks like: alias doge='cd /Users/telenardo/Downloads; ./minerd -o stratum+tcp://stratum.dogehouse.org:993 --userpass=ardo.ardo2:ardo2' This would make it so that every time you enter "doge" on the command line, your system automatically starts mining. I realize this may not be clear, feel free to ask follow up questions if you're still confused.

This usually means that poolerino has gone down - pools frequently undergo DDoS attacks. Try a different one like: https://doge.hashfaster.com/

this worked great, but how would i make it use only 3 of my 4 cores at a time so my hardware doesnt fry?

Run "./minerd --help" for a full list of available commands!
Jimmy K (4 years ago)
+Jimmy K are there other commands i can use?

+ShortTutorials thanks so much man!
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
Add "-t 3" to the end of the command. This will limit the number of miner threads to 3, which will only use 3 of your cores!

dude thank you! ok soo will the doge coins show  up once it reaches a certain point?
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
You will get your payout at the end of each "round", based on the number of shares you contribute in that round! Depending on which pool you choose, this could take anywhere from 5-30 minutes.

Interesting - I am not sure how that site works. The hashrate (around .9 khash/s for me) is around 10-20 times less than my CPU is capable of. A cool concept, but I don't think you will produce many coins on that site.

I followed your instructions but got message "permission denied" Can you tell me what I may have done wrong, thanks great information thank you
Tyler Frieman (4 years ago)
tried that ,didnt work :/
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
+Tyler Frieman to answer your second question, unfortunately no. One of these programs will use your entire CPU's power. If you run two programs, the mining speed of each will be reduced by half. If you want to increase your mining speed, I'd look into mining with your GPU (I have a video on how to do this with your Mac linked in the description). Regarding Terminal - this is strange. Try restarting your computer, and then just double click on the Terminal icon in the Applications > Utilities folder!
Tyler Frieman (4 years ago)
+ShortTutorials why might terminal not be opening? I have dogecoin-qt installed and synced (such a process xD) and im trying to get cpuminer but cant terminal to open. Also, can i run 2 miner programs at the same time for 2x doge? (like asteroid and cpuminer)
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
At what stage did you get "Permissions denied"? Additionally, are you sure you ran the "chmod 755" command? That command should give you permissions to run the program!

How do I transfer coins I mined from my pool to my wallet? I'm stuck
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
Go to "edit account" within the pool website. Within this you should see an "Automatic Payout" section. Set this up to automatically deposit your coins into your wallet!

I have a question is there any way to mine with GPU on MAcbook pro? if yes how to do that and does it worth that? thank you

Thanks for the info... although I have not been able to make my worker run.....I follow every single step (but with nonstopmine) and the program says ": No such file or directory" why could that be?? not giving up yet.....
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
Where is the "minerd" file? Within terminal, you need to be in the directory that the minerd file is in. For me, this was the "Downloads" folder, so I ran "cd Downloads"

Hi, I have followed your video and had a few 'yays'. But how do these yays convert into Dogecoin? and do I need to link my dogecoin wallet into poolerino?? Thanks so much! I am a newbie.
Tyler Frieman (4 years ago)
+ShortTutorials i know im asking so many questions, but what can you buy with doge..can you change is to USD?
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
+Sam Tan This is tough. The mining capability of Macbooks just is not that high. I would look into to mining with your GPU. Other than that, I would recommend linking a bunch of old computers, or investing in some specific mining hardware!
Sam Tan (4 years ago)
I have got my DogeCoins! But how do we MacBook users improve our mining?

Be patient. Readouts on the pool website will take a while to start showing up!

parsis85 (4 years ago)
Can someone plz explain how I activate the second worker? Do I have to do exact same thing on the same terminal or start a separate terminal for the second worker?
parsis85 (4 years ago)
+ShortTutorials Ok I understand. Did you get my pm by the way?
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
You would have to use a seperate terminal to start another worker. However, a single worker will use all of your computer's power, so there is no point in launching two workers on a single machine. Multiple workers are generally used by people who are mining on many individual computers.

What version of OSX are you running? Is is 10.5 or earlier by any chance? It seems people have hit this same error when running other programs on older Macs (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12326237/libspotify-on-os-x-10-5-and-missing-symbol). If so, might be time to upgrade the OS!

Stratum authentication failed...retry after 30 seconds. I'll keep poking around.
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
For example, using the user and worker that I used in this video, the command would now be: "./minerd -o stratum+tcp://doge.poolerino.de:3333 -u ardo.worker2 -p worker2"
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
+Dave Patterson Bizarre. You can try splitting the "userpass" argument into  seperate username and password arguments. Basically instead of "--userpass=..." try "-u USER.WORKER_NAME -p WORKER_PASS",
Dave Patterson (4 years ago)
Hmm, I've tried out the new pool address.  Now it just says incorrect username/password.. going to keep trying here.

I am getting this error right now as well - It's possible that the pool has gone down. Try switching pools. I am successfully running now on http://doge.cryptovalley.com/
kelly L (4 years ago)
thank you! thumbs up'd & subscribed
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
+kelly losee If you want to start and stop the program without closing the Terminal Application, press 'control + C'. This will stop the miner. You can restart it with the same command (./minerd -o....) you used to start it in the first place. Also, if you don't want to type it again, Terminal has a built in memory, so you can just hit the 'Up' arrow to bring up the last command you ran :)
ShortTutorials (4 years ago)
+kelly losee you only have to change the permissions once (chmod 755...), but you will have to move into your "Downloads" directory (cd Downloads) and start the miner (./minerd -o...) each time you re-open Terminal
kelly L (4 years ago)
can you pause and start it back up or do u have to exit and do it over?
samueltheboss1 (4 years ago)
