** I HAVE LISTED THE COMMON Q & A. PLEASE READ IT FIRST BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS. THANK YOU **
Q: So when you sell an item on ebay and select a shipping method do you go to any postal place and give it to them?
A: You can print and prepay for the item at home, then take it post office and mail it, or print a mailing label and take it post office and pay for shipping there.
Q: What happens if you sell the item, sent it to their home, and they do a charge back and lie about not receiving item when they did? what do you do?
A: All you can do is use tracking to confirm delivery, and hope people are honest. You also have the ebay rating for the person. So hopefully that will vet out who is scamming others.
Q: So if i don't have a printer i can just go to my local post office and ship it there? What information do i need when using this method?
A: You need a mailing label with sender and receiver address. This can be hand written if you want. Then post office will place the postage sticker on the package.
Q: So after purchasing the shipping label, if I go to my local post office, can I just hand it in and no additional costs will apply?
A: Once you purchase that postal label, it's paid for, and you need to stick it on the box, and take it to the post office. It's paid already so you don't pay anymore,. You are just dropping the package off to have it shipped out.
Q: With all the fees and postage, how do you figure asking price to not end up losing money?
A: Your asking price is solely dependent on what other sellers are selling the same item for. If you ask for more than what others are selling at, nobody will buy your item. If you are not comfortable selling it at the market price, then you are better off not selling it.
Q: I am confused when it comes to the shipping cost. You originally set the shipping cost at $9, but once you chose the way you wanted to ship the item it came out to $10 plus. So did the difference come out of your pocket, or did the buyers?
A: Yes, I paid out the difference. When you preset a shipping cost, you really don't know where that winning buyer is located. If that person lives in your state, then shipping is cheap and you can make money on the shipping. But if the person lives across the country, then it can cost a lot. When you preset a postage price in your auction, you have to be prepared for this to happen. Just choose a reasonable shipping rate so it will attract buyers and cover most of your cost. For people that might say...how about charge more for shipping....well be careful as you might price yourself way higher than all the other sellers and never sell your item. My only advice is don't get too hung up on loosing couple dollars on the shipping, if you are able to sell your item, and you made some money, then it's money in your pocket. Versus not selling anything and have that item sit at home and you made $0.
Q: Do you need to get your own boxes? And also how do you know how much you'll have to charge shipping?
A: Yes you supply your own box, unless you ship using USPS Priority mail, then you use there boxes. As to how much you charge shipping, you can go on USPS and get an estimate. The difficulty is estimating where the winning bidder is from (near you or opposite side of the country which will be higher shipping). You can just charge a flat rate shipping and expect to either pay a few dollars more to ship at the end if the person lives far away. If you charge too much shipping right off the bat, then you risk no one buying it.
Q: Can you use FedEx or any shipping method that you like?
A: You can ship however you like as long as you get it to the buyer in a timely manner. Preferably with tracking information.
Q: So will I have the money in my PayPal account before I purchase the shipping label or do they have to receive it first before I get paid?
A: You don't ship until you get the money deposited in your Paypal. Ebay will also only give you the option to ship after payment has been made by the buyer.
Q: You say you can pick up free boxes at the post office. Are flat rate boxes free or not?
A: Priority Mail Flat Rate shipping is a fixed shipping rate you pay USPS. In order for you to ship using the Flat rate with USPS, you need to use their 'free' boxes which you can pick up for free at USPS. The reason for using their box is they predetermine the size and how much you can fit in it to qualify for their flat rate. When you go to the post office, you will see a shelves with these boxes which you can take as many as you want.
I am making an extra $500 a month selling stuff on eBay. I sell about anything but mostly comic books since I know a lot about those. The biggest tip I can give you is sell things you are into. I t makes easy and fun, plus the hunting is the best part. For the people who thinks the fees are too high its all about flipping fast and not charge a lot and be greedy. Also when you get the system down I can come back from a hunt, I can take pics, list it and pack it up in 20 mins.
You sell new things on eBay if you're lucky that's pretty much it... You get paid and voila'!
If you happen to get one of those dishonest buyers they'll open it, use it, maybe they'll do an unboxing video here on YouTube with it and then return it for a full refund, screwing you in the process!
No thanks, I'll avoid selling on eBay like tye plague!
I'm still lost, to a certain extent !
What if I sell from my Android Phone, with no way to print a label.
How do I get shipping information? Where does eBay take these fees from ! Why does every site assume everybody knows everything about technology, when some of us are actually uneducated on the subjects ? The Video was helpful, but actually for me it helped me to ask more questions, about things or situations I know nothing about !! Can't get any help from PayPal or eBay, can't talk to a person, nothing but messages, email, and more Questions ! Just asking for a little help ! 🤘
Okay help me out here. I am an aspiring new seller and I'm looking to get a little more educated on Ebay before I jump into it(glad I did). So I'm trying to get an accurate description of what to expect when I sell. So you sold your item for $41. The customer paid $9 for shipping. Reaching a grand total of $50. You paid for a discounted shipping fee of $10+. So you have an insertion fee of $.35, paypal fee which I would assume would be around $2(if that is close to being accurate), plus a final value fee of $5(10% of sale), and finally the fee from shipping which is $1+ because of the customer paying 9 and your discounted price was 10+. So if I am correct. Your total profit would be around $40 correct?
I am trying to sell a Ps4 Pro on ebay. This is my first time selling anything and I dont want to get scammed, do you need to give someone your PayPal account number/email in order for them to make a payment.
eBay and PayPal are the biggest crooks I’ve ever seen eBay owns PayPal they charge you a listing fee then a percentage of the selling price and the shipping cost which they have nothing to do with and are not part of the shipping company then they charge you the PayPal fees they won’t let a seller leave neg feedback for a bad buyer or scammer but they can leave the seller neg feedback and if you leave neg feed back for a seller the seller can have them remove it they stick there nose in your business which is not there concern they open a item not paid for automatically
Even though you and the seller have communicated and have no problems eBay causes all the problems and issues that come up there customer support do nothing but tell lies to you if you talk to more then one person they will each give you a different excuse they read you emails they say it’s to be sure your following there rules lmao that’s total bs
If you have one or more eBay store, 'SaleUp' is the IDEAL solution for you!!!

DO NOT list anything on eBay, currently had an agreement with the buyer regarding long delivery time due to surface mail . E bay took my listing fee, selling fee, refund to the buyer and buyer received the item and refuse to pay. Paypal also took their commision fee off me and E bay has no policy to protect the seller.
The hardest part is trying to figure out where to get the right box to ship items in if they don’t fit in a standard boxes. Like if you had a record album or a bottle of vitamins, how would you ship those? If you buy a box it eats into your profit? Please Help
EBAY is now the main platform where criminals practice their trade, stay well away , it is a terrible company . Criminals are protected and nurtured by EBAY and PAYPAL . Read this from UK https://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews53167.html#Reviews
Pay Pal is what I could not figure out. First Item I ever sold for 18 bucks went to my Pay Pal account and before I could sell anything else the money was eaten up by monthly fees. With no way to communicate with them or complain, I still use both, buying is easy. Selling and getting paid is a different animal.
Hi... nice to see your video. I have question regarding to sellkng and shipping on ebay. This is my firt selling experience on ebay, My item has been sold, and I just hot email notification that the payment from buyer has been confirmed but it is still held untill I send the item and show the tracking number to paypal. What do you think? Should I send the item?
This is my 20th year selling on eBay. On this video right around 3:40 you should not waste your time looking at what other sellers are trying to get but click on left side where it says Sold Items or Completed Listings where it will show sold and unsold items. Around 4:50 he says take pics with a camera. Another big time waster. You can use your smart phone to photograph & list your items then go back on a real computer and make minor changes or better edit the photos. At 10:00 min on the video - why would you limit shipment to a certain country? unless it is something you shouldn't ship out of USA. Using the Global Shipping Plan makes it easy to ship worldwide and I am not responsible when it gets lost - eBay is. This is an outdated listing template, Now it is required to add UPC codes and ISBN numbers if applicable. You forgot to mention when you are a new seller and sell something eBay keeps your money for 2 weeks to guarantee you actually shipped and it was received. Happy Selling.
Hi can i buy item off ebay By copying most of a sellers listing And send it straight to buyer By using buyers address and not mine To make profit Or is it a no go Be very grateful if you could let me know Big Thanks
List your item for next to nothing 😝 as the majority of people who shop on eBay are SCUM and expect everything for nothing !
Accept PayPal for collection only items so the buyer can collect and then say they haven't collected knowing you haven't a cat in hells chance of proving they're collected your item(s) then scumbag PayPal who you pay a fee to for " SELLER PROTECTION " will ignore you and give the BUYER WHO AS JUST RIPPED YOU OFF THEIR MONEY BACK ! "
Also be prepared for " SCUMBAG " Buyers who can't get their own way with you to start trolling you and going to eBay snitching and telling eBay your genuine items are fake and having them removed !
Place your items in an auction starting at 99p / $1 and let maggots bid each other out for a few pennies .
Then post your items out for " FREE "
in a nutshell eBay fkn sucks because of the SCUMBAGS who shop there
Unfair feedback system !
Sell items not as described then post out for FREE automatically gets you five-star feedback !
Then if your item isn't as listed because some W⚓ ripped you off and you leave negative feedback ' they then leave negative feedback about you because you let people know you were conned !

Nice, simple explanation. On my channel you can find a way to do your costing and and calculate all of the costs as well as profit calculations associated with eBay. My product is on www.profitprojector.com.
One thing you didn't show is how to do a search for only SOLD items in order to determine the price range you want for your item. If you just look at the prices people are currently ASKING for an item, this may not give you a very good idea of optimal pricing. Some people may ask too much, or some may have no idea that their item is actually worth much more than what they are asking. If you set your minimum price too high, you're wasting time. If you set it too low, you run the risk that people may not actually bid up to what it's worth. This comes from my brother, who sells on eBay A LOT. I'm glad he told me, so now I want to share that with you! :)
Lol people all scared I literally just started, I was fucking terrified too! I’m watching how to videos all day taking notes then finally I said fuck it went out and bought some shit with the tips I learned, and I’m already selling, I shit you not today I sold fucking Taco Bell packets for 8.29😂🤣
Take a risk people , I’ll make a video for proof
Amazing simple! Not sure what’s up with that other guys comment hahah. My plan is to have all the USPS priority boxes I need ready so I can figure out what box will give me the cheapest shipping while still arriving at a reasonable time. Is it possible to go onto the USPS website to see what it might cost for shipping before I have the item sold. I rather had a good idea of the cost before I even post it. Thanks!
1) Setup: Get an eBay account, a Paypal account, and a laser printer... (you probably won't need a camera - most people have decent ones in their phones by now)
2) Listing: Take good photos, be descriptive and honest, and set a fair/competitive price (check other prices for the same product on eBay first)
3) Selling: Just wait - that's eBay's job
4) Shipping: Package as indicated, put on the label you print from eBay, then drop it off to be shipped (or take it to the courier/ post office and pay them to do it all for you)
5) Get paid (or not)
It is not good practice to stick your label on the seams of the package. If for some reason it has to be opened by someone before it gets to its destination, the addressees information could be destroyed. For example: If you are shipping overseas, Customs may open the package for inspection. They are not usually concerned about neatly cutting through your label to make sure that the address stays intact.
Great video! I read 3 Ebay books that did NOT go into details about shipping. You answered a lot of questions I had! Also, thank you for not going really fast and talking with an annoyed voice. I've seen some horrible youtube videos about Ebay where the person sounds like they didn't want to make that video. Thank you for taking us step by step, because this has been confusing and intimidating for me (and for a lot of other people, I'm sure LOL). I got lost in one part of your video-14:09, with the shipping options and costs. Here are my questions. I'm a beginner with Ebay and different carrier services; I apologize for having so many questions. Please bear with me!
1. Shouldn't we all check different carriers-USPS, FedEx, and others to find the cheapest shipping option? I noticed you just looked at USPS. Why didn't you look into other carriers for possible low prices?
2. In this video, you picked Priority Mail $10.66 (after Ebay Discount), and this option is NOT a Flat Rate. Below this shipping option, we saw "Media Mail" $4.13-also has NO Flat rate. Media Mail is the Cheapest option available, but you say that the cheapest option is NOT always the cheapest option. Why? Did you pick Priority Mail because you already had a free USPS box? Would you have to use your own box for Media Mail? In general, will the post office charge extra if there is NO flat rate attached to the shipping cost option? How much more extra will they charge? How do they determine the cost? EX: $2 for each pound. For any option we choose, isn't the total amount for shipping determined-price not subject to change-in the PACKAGE DIMENSIONS gray box at the bottom right of this page?
3. I'm not sure how to determine shipping with regards to different states within the U.S.A. Will Ebay automatically calculate shipping costs when someone clicks on one of my items? Doesn't the seller just receive the total costs of everything, when they click on something they're interested in buying? For example, I'm selling in California; can a buyer in Florida just click on one of my item(s) to receive the total costs for their item(s), shipping, taxes (if applicable), and whatever else? From my books and youtube videos, I've heard that buyers have to go to a certain page to put in their zip codes to figure out shipping costs, one book suggested to have buyer email me their zip code so I could calculate shipping costs, and finally, I've seen suggestions to just have one flat rate to avoid shipping calculations altogether-even though I lose some of my profit with flat rate shipping.
Again, I'm so sorry for these questions!!! LOL It's just that so many sources give different kinds of advice that it becomes confusing; I've gotten mixed about what to do. Thank you, before hand, for answering any questions and for this video!
1. For me, I find when shipping small items, USPS has the best rate, and if you ship bigger/heavier items, you can use Fedex or UPS.
2. With USPS flat rate, you have to use their designated box. If you are online when purchasing the USPS postage, you can compare prices of the different services (flat rate or priority mail) to see which one is cheapest. Flat rate is a one set price to cover the shipping of an item up to a certain weight. If your item happen to be very light, Priority Mail might come out cheaper.
3. In your auction, you can specify calculate shipping based on buyer's location, and yes this option will cover the seller for the actual shipping cost. But this is not always the best option if you want to sell the item. Don't forget, you are competing against other sellers to sell your item. If your item has a calculated shipping cost of $15, but the other seller are selling the same item with a flat rate shipping cost of $8. The buyer will buy from the other guy and not you. You will find out quickly you don't dictate the selling price. It's the competition that dictates that. Some people get hung up on wanting to charge the full calculated shipping + the item, and that's up to you, but guess what, you will never sell the item. In my video, lots of people pointed out I lost money by paying more on shipping than what I charged with the flat rate shipping cost, but for me I am ok with loosing $2 on the item. At the end of the day, I made money, and sold the item. One more thing, if you choose the calculate shipping option in your auction, when the buyer click on your item, Ebay will automatically calculate the shipping cost and display it (before they buy), so the buyers can easily compare shop between sellers. If people are not willing to loose couple of dollars on a $50 item, then don't sell on Ebay. It's simply the cost of doing business (and making money). You have to know your bottom line. Hope the info helps.
