** I HAVE LISTED THE COMMON Q & A. PLEASE READ IT FIRST BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS. THANK YOU **
Q: So when you sell an item on ebay and select a shipping method do you go to any postal place and give it to them?
A: You can print and prepay for the item at home, then take it post office and mail it, or print a mailing label and take it post office and pay for shipping there.
Q: What happens if you sell the item, sent it to their home, and they do a charge back and lie about not receiving item when they did? what do you do?
A: All you can do is use tracking to confirm delivery, and hope people are honest. You also have the ebay rating for the person. So hopefully that will vet out who is scamming others.
Q: So if i don't have a printer i can just go to my local post office and ship it there? What information do i need when using this method?
A: You need a mailing label with sender and receiver address. This can be hand written if you want. Then post office will place the postage sticker on the package.
Q: So after purchasing the shipping label, if I go to my local post office, can I just hand it in and no additional costs will apply?
A: Once you purchase that postal label, it's paid for, and you need to stick it on the box, and take it to the post office. It's paid already so you don't pay anymore,. You are just dropping the package off to have it shipped out.
Q: With all the fees and postage, how do you figure asking price to not end up losing money?
A: Your asking price is solely dependent on what other sellers are selling the same item for. If you ask for more than what others are selling at, nobody will buy your item. If you are not comfortable selling it at the market price, then you are better off not selling it.
Q: I am confused when it comes to the shipping cost. You originally set the shipping cost at $9, but once you chose the way you wanted to ship the item it came out to $10 plus. So did the difference come out of your pocket, or did the buyers?
A: Yes, I paid out the difference. When you preset a shipping cost, you really don't know where that winning buyer is located. If that person lives in your state, then shipping is cheap and you can make money on the shipping. But if the person lives across the country, then it can cost a lot. When you preset a postage price in your auction, you have to be prepared for this to happen. Just choose a reasonable shipping rate so it will attract buyers and cover most of your cost. For people that might say...how about charge more for shipping....well be careful as you might price yourself way higher than all the other sellers and never sell your item. My only advice is don't get too hung up on loosing couple dollars on the shipping, if you are able to sell your item, and you made some money, then it's money in your pocket. Versus not selling anything and have that item sit at home and you made $0.
Q: Do you need to get your own boxes? And also how do you know how much you'll have to charge shipping?
A: Yes you supply your own box, unless you ship using USPS Priority mail, then you use there boxes. As to how much you charge shipping, you can go on USPS and get an estimate. The difficulty is estimating where the winning bidder is from (near you or opposite side of the country which will be higher shipping). You can just charge a flat rate shipping and expect to either pay a few dollars more to ship at the end if the person lives far away. If you charge too much shipping right off the bat, then you risk no one buying it.
Q: Can you use FedEx or any shipping method that you like?
A: You can ship however you like as long as you get it to the buyer in a timely manner. Preferably with tracking information.
Q: So will I have the money in my PayPal account before I purchase the shipping label or do they have to receive it first before I get paid?
A: You don't ship until you get the money deposited in your Paypal. Ebay will also only give you the option to ship after payment has been made by the buyer.
Q: You say you can pick up free boxes at the post office. Are flat rate boxes free or not?
A: Priority Mail Flat Rate shipping is a fixed shipping rate you pay USPS. In order for you to ship using the Flat rate with USPS, you need to use their 'free' boxes which you can pick up for free at USPS. The reason for using their box is they predetermine the size and how much you can fit in it to qualify for their flat rate. When you go to the post office, you will see a shelves with these boxes which you can take as many as you want.
What I really need to know is how to deal with the legal aspects. Like when you start making a descent amount of money how do you file the income on your taxes. I use turbotax and got a 1099k from PayPal but it doesn't tell you exactly what to do it it.
I'm confused on the shipping part. Lets say im selling a video game disk. I can just put that in an envelope or envelope sized cardboard paper. Print out the label and since the product is small I can just put in in the post box near me? If so whats the point of setting shipment money, should I just put free shipping?
I recently sold my old 8 track tapes on eBay, and I'd never sold (or bought) anything there before. I made lots of mistakes during the course of the sale, but I think it's just a matter of getting experience with it. I chose to sell the 8 track tapes because the only other thing I could do with them was to throw them out. I listed them as untested because I had no way to test them to see if they were any good. The buyer told me that they are good. I think it's good to start off selling something that is not valuable to you.
Some of the process is self-explanatory. You click on sell. You upload your photos. You'll see the long list of how you want to ship your item.
Another thing the narrator didn't go into is that you communicate with your buyer. You also rate your experience with the buyer (positive or negative), just as the buyer rates you.
I almost got the account of my buyer frozen because I made the mistake of placing my ad twice, and eBay wanted to charge him twice. This meant I had to phone eBay several times, but it didn't take long to contact customer service, and they were helpful.
I would suggest that you just plunge in after viewing some videos like this.
All I want to know is how do I get the item in the buyers hand. Do I mail it to them? I rarely do that. So I'm not sure. The way people get paid online is through PayPal, is that the only way to give and receive money.
First of all nice video! My question is, i'm from Greece so i'll propably try to sell my items to Europe and exclude US. So when someone wants to buy my item, what shipping cost will appear to him? (e.g. he is from England) Does ebay calculate that cost?
I tried clicking on the video, but I didn't see a link! I owned a marketing Consulting Firm in NYC for 8 years, and would love to learn your system! my Facebook page is under Holly Yaeger Komar, and my email is [email protected], so please contact me! Thanks.
I guess I will not be shipping because I don't have a scale to weight my products nor do I have a laser printer either! I have an inkjet printer and I do know what he is talking about when you get any water on inkjet printed paper it fades and smears and makes it illegible. :-(
Thank you, this makes perfect sense to me. I read a couple of the comments below, I really don't see what's so complicated, I watched the Video and Subscribed to your Channel and gave you a well-deserved Thumbs up. I'm a person that's not afraid to try. I was fired from a Job that I hate a couple of days ago for finally doing something stupid, they were waiting for me to just do anything, I'm not mad at them or even myself, I'm glad that it's finally over. Now, I'm looking to go in a different direction, I will find another job, but selling on eBay has been in the back of my mind for some time, this Video, in my opinion, walked me through what I need to do to get started right away selling on eBay.
I’d like to sell I have a few questions if I sell a merchandise worth $1,000 would my fee be $100 and what about the PayPal fee? How do I get the money from PayPal do I transfer it to my bank account? can you email please [email protected]
Thank you very much for yours videos , i'm a seller based in france but i sell en ebay com , since 3 month (when i start) i can't sell anything by drop-shipping and i don't now why !! my questions please ,
do Americans do not enjoy buying products from someone based elsewhere? Or they do not like bought delivered by China? or whatever, knowing I optimized everything titles, description, pictures .... all except that I put the products comes from hong kong.
I want to know, does the fact of mixing drop-shipping products and my own used products, do not encourage buyers to buy?
Thanksfor your answers
WARNING - Ebay now charge a fee on shipping charges as well as a selling fee. - It works out another 5% on top of the 13% they charged before on the Final value fee plus the paypal fee . Ebay just got more greedy..
At my USPS, you can drop off at the counter with the postal worker, or you can place it in a corner where all prepaid postage packages can be left there for them to process (check with your local post office).
"...and hopefully in the process you make some money." Wow, that's about as discouraging a statement as you could possibly make, right there at the start. I might be better off just throwing my unused stuff away- less effort, less headache, and even if I'm guaranteed not to make any money, at least I'm also guaranteed not to _lose_ any.
so lets say u bought an item for 5$ but you want to make profit so you sell it for 7$, but then theres the fees, and the different post types that cost from 5$ to 10$ so you waste more money than the actual item youre selling. theres no profit in this
I am making an extra $500 a month selling stuff on eBay. I sell about anything but mostly comic books since I know a lot about those. The biggest tip I can give you is sell things you are into. I t makes easy and fun, plus the hunting is the best part. For the people who thinks the fees are too high its all about flipping fast and not charge a lot and be greedy. Also when you get the system down I can come back from a hunt, I can take pics, list it and pack it up in 20 mins.
You sell new things on eBay if you're lucky that's pretty much it... You get paid and voila'!
If you happen to get one of those dishonest buyers they'll open it, use it, maybe they'll do an unboxing video here on YouTube with it and then return it for a full refund, screwing you in the process!
No thanks, I'll avoid selling on eBay like tye plague!
I'm still lost, to a certain extent !
What if I sell from my Android Phone, with no way to print a label.
How do I get shipping information? Where does eBay take these fees from ! Why does every site assume everybody knows everything about technology, when some of us are actually uneducated on the subjects ? The Video was helpful, but actually for me it helped me to ask more questions, about things or situations I know nothing about !! Can't get any help from PayPal or eBay, can't talk to a person, nothing but messages, email, and more Questions ! Just asking for a little help ! 🤘
Okay help me out here. I am an aspiring new seller and I'm looking to get a little more educated on Ebay before I jump into it(glad I did). So I'm trying to get an accurate description of what to expect when I sell. So you sold your item for $41. The customer paid $9 for shipping. Reaching a grand total of $50. You paid for a discounted shipping fee of $10+. So you have an insertion fee of $.35, paypal fee which I would assume would be around $2(if that is close to being accurate), plus a final value fee of $5(10% of sale), and finally the fee from shipping which is $1+ because of the customer paying 9 and your discounted price was 10+. So if I am correct. Your total profit would be around $40 correct?
I am trying to sell a Ps4 Pro on ebay. This is my first time selling anything and I dont want to get scammed, do you need to give someone your PayPal account number/email in order for them to make a payment.
eBay and PayPal are the biggest crooks I’ve ever seen eBay owns PayPal they charge you a listing fee then a percentage of the selling price and the shipping cost which they have nothing to do with and are not part of the shipping company then they charge you the PayPal fees they won’t let a seller leave neg feedback for a bad buyer or scammer but they can leave the seller neg feedback and if you leave neg feed back for a seller the seller can have them remove it they stick there nose in your business which is not there concern they open a item not paid for automatically
Even though you and the seller have communicated and have no problems eBay causes all the problems and issues that come up there customer support do nothing but tell lies to you if you talk to more then one person they will each give you a different excuse they read you emails they say it’s to be sure your following there rules lmao that’s total bs
If you have one or more eBay store, 'SaleUp' is the IDEAL solution for you!!!

DO NOT list anything on eBay, currently had an agreement with the buyer regarding long delivery time due to surface mail . E bay took my listing fee, selling fee, refund to the buyer and buyer received the item and refuse to pay. Paypal also took their commision fee off me and E bay has no policy to protect the seller.
The hardest part is trying to figure out where to get the right box to ship items in if they don’t fit in a standard boxes. Like if you had a record album or a bottle of vitamins, how would you ship those? If you buy a box it eats into your profit? Please Help
13,500,000 GRAM Plan to sell.
